A native of Glendora, California, Command Master Chief Gilham, enlisted in the Navy
through the Delayed Entry Program in March 1993 and entered active service in January
1994. He completed basic Training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois, then
went on to graduate from Hospital Corpsman “A” School in San Diego, California.
Master Chief Gilham's career sea duty assignments include: Surface Independent Duty tours
aboard USS Stephen W. Groves (FFG 29) and USS Yorktown (CG 48), Naval Station
Pascagoula, Mississippi; Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ELEVEN, Gulfport,
Mississippi; and Command Master Chief tours with the “Zappers” of Electronic Attack
Squadron (VAQ) 130 attached to CAG-3, deployed aboard the aircraft carriers USS Harry S.
Truman (CVN 75) and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69); and the “Garudas” of
Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 134 attached to Commander, Electronic Attack Wing,
U.S. Pacific Fleet, where he deployed to Japan, South Korea and Guam.
His Shore duty assignments include: Branch Medical Clinic, NAS Dallas, Grand Prairie,
Texas; Inspector-Instructor Staff, Charlie Battery, 1st Battalion, 14th Marines, Jackson
Mississippi; Naval School of Health Sciences, San Diego, California; Commander Mine Counter Measures Squadron TWO as
the Senior Mine Force Independent Duty Corpsman and Medical ISIC for twenty-four Navy Mine Counter Measures (MCM)
and Minehunter Class (MHC) ships; Commander Logistics Group Western Pacific, where he served as the Medical Aid Station
LCPO, CTF-73 Medical Fleet Liaison, CARAT Medical Planner and Navy Region Singapore Sexual Assault Forensic
Examiner. Additionally, he served as Command Master Chief for the “Bloodhounds” of Test Evaluation Squadron THREE
ZERO (VX-30), Naval Base Ventura County, Commander, Electronic Attack Wing, U.S. Pacific Fleet, and Naval Air Station
Whidbey Island prior to assuming the duties as the COMLOGWESTPAC/CFT-73 Command Master Chief in August, 2023.
Master Chief Gilham holds a Bachelor of Science degree (summa cum laude) from George Washington University. His
military education encompasses leadership development at the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 161/Grey),
CMC/COB Course, CNIC Senior Shore Leadership Course, Flag and Executive Leader Implementation Course, Navy Senior
Leader Seminar, and Navy Flag and Senior Executive Training. He has also honed his expertise through specialized programs
including the Singapore Armed Forces Warrant Officer School Advance Leadership Course, Command Senior Enlisted Leader,
Executive Leadership and MCPON’s Leadership Mess Symposiums. Additionally, he is qualified as an Enlisted Surface
Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist, and an Enlisted Seabee
Combat Warfare Specialist.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (6
awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), Good Conduct Medal (10 awards) and various other service
and campaign awards.
