CAPT Tamez is a native of Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Dallas. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas, as well as a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
His operational assignments include duty as Supply Officer, USS TENNESSEE (SSBN734); Aviation Support Officer (S-6), USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69); Logistics Planner, Global Logistics Support Liaison to Commander, Seventh Fleet, Yokosuka, Japan; and, Logistics Planner, Combined Forces Special Operations Component Command (CFSOCC), Doha, Qatar.
Shore assignments include Passenger, Mail, CASREP and Cargo Division Officer at Commander, Task Force 63 (CTF-63); Student at the Naval War College and the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School (MAWS); Operations Analyst/Strategic Planner Combat Logistics Force Programs & Policy Branch and Naval Strategy Panel (OPNAV N42/N5X); Supply Operations Division Head at Naval Sea Systems Command, Industrial Supply Chain Department (SEA 04S), and Director, Maritime Industrial Support (N977), at NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support. His most recent assignment was as Executive Officer at NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Yokosuka.
CAPT Tamez’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and service awards. He is a qualified Submarine Supply Officer and Naval Aviation Supply Officer. He received the 2022 Admiral Stan Arthur Award for Military Officer Logistics and Sustainment Professional of the Year and earned the Lawrence Y. Spear Prize for academic excellence.
