Television and Cable:

Live Armed Forces Radio & Television Service (AFRTS) satellite, tapes, and a movie channel are cabled into each residence. In addition, local channels can also be received if you have a multi-system set. This multi-system set is not needed to receive AFRTS broadcasts, only local ones. A local cable company also provides service to the community, which is optional.

OPEN MESS/RECREATION FACILITIES:

TERROR CLUB SPORTS COMPLEX:
The Terror Club consists of a main air-conditioned room and adjacent covered patio. The Terror Club offers American foods such as pizza, burgers, chicken, ribs, etc., and a full-service bar. Video, TV and sound systems are also available. No food or beverages may be brought into the complex or pool areas. The sports complex boasts a pool, lighted tennis and basketball courts, a volleyball pit, a lighted baseball field, and a soccer pitch. Various athletic equipment is available for check-out.

GYM/FITNESS CENTERS/OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

The Fitness Center:
The Fitness Center is open to all U.S. military and dependants.  There is up-to-date nautilus equipment installed and is air-conditioned. Aerobics classes are held daily.

The Fleet Gym:
The Fleet Gym is run by the Navy and is open to all. There is an indoor basketball court, racquetball courts, a tennis court, aerobic exercise equipment, machine and free weights.

CHILD CARE FACILITIES:
There are no child care facilities operated by the military, nor is there any licensed home day care available. The most common solution is a non working parent. Some families employ full time maids for child care services. There are pre-schools for children ages 18 months to 6 years and the costs range from about S$320 - S$380 for full day and S$220 - S$280 for half day per month. Most daycare centers offer bus service at an additional cost.

CHAPLAIN SERVICES:
A chaplain is available to help you with spiritual and personal needs. The chaplain’s office is located on the ground floor of building 7-4. To schedule an appointment, stop by the office or call 6750-2492 or 6750-2361. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The chaplain can also be reached after office hours at 9825-5200. The following services are provided on Sundays at the St. Andrew Military Community Chapel, which is adjacent to the housing area.

Children’s Church is held every Sunday during Protestant Worship Service and CCD for Roman Catholic children at 9:30 am. There is a Bible Study that meets one weekday afternoon per week during the school year. Other bible studies and family support programs are offered at various times. Marriage Enrichment Retreats and Personal Growth Retreats are also offered periodically, as well as a Vacation Bible School for children ages 3-11 each summer. Both the Protestant and Roman Catholic communities feature choirs that are always in search of singers and musicians.

In addition to the military community services provided, there are a variety of religious services available within the Singapore community. Specific information on the meeting times and places for various faith groups can be obtained at the Chaplain’s office. These include but are not limited to: Anglican, Assemblies of God, Baptist, Buddhist, Jewish, Latter-Day Saints, Lutheran, Methodist, Muslim, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic, and Seventh Day Adventist.

The Chaplain, the Religious Program Specialist and the combined chapel congregation welcome you and stand ready to assist you in your transition into the Sembawang Military Community!
